1. Eligibility and Scope

The Service is offered only to individuals who:

  • Are at least 18 years old; and
  • Are residents of the United States.

The Service is not offered to, and is not intended for, individuals outside the United States. We may decline, suspend, or terminate accounts that do not meet these requirements.

The Service is designed for Active Duty service members, Reservists, National Guard members, and Veterans of the U.S. Armed Forces. Because the Service is built for a military-connected community, we collect limited verification information to confirm eligibility and help prevent fraud.

This Policy applies to information collected through the BattleBuddies app, BattleBuddiesDating.com, and related support or account services that link to this Policy.

2. Information We Collect

Account information

We may collect:

  • Name;
  • Email address;
  • Date of birth;
  • Login credentials and account details; and
  • Information needed to manage your account.

Profile information

We may collect the information you choose to include in your profile, such as:

  • Photos;
  • Biographical information;
  • Preferences;
  • Relationship goals;
  • Military-related profile details;
  • Lifestyle and communication preferences; and
  • Video clips or other media you upload.

Some profile information may be sensitive or personal in nature. You should share only information you are comfortable displaying to other users.

Verification information

We collect verification status received from VerifyPass, our primary military-status verification method, or a dated “verified via .mil” status flag when you choose the secondary, optional .mil route. The .mil route is available only for members who prefer it and is never required to join; the .mil address is never stored, no messages are ever sent to it, and the check confirms domain access only—not identity, rank, unit, component, or length of service. Verification confirms military status only and is not a guarantee of identity, safety, or anyone's exact rank, unit, or service history.

We do not receive or store your full military records, government records, service records, or official personnel file.

.mil email verification

The .mil email option is an optional secondary verification method. It is available only for members who prefer it and is never required to join; VerifyPass is the primary verification method.

If you choose this option:

  • The .mil address is used only for a one-time confirmation that you can access a .mil domain;
  • The .mil address is never stored;
  • We retain only a dated “verified via .mil” status flag;
  • No messages are ever sent to a .mil email address, including marketing, match notifications, account messages, transactional emails, or other communications;
  • The check confirms domain access only—not identity, rank, unit, component, or length of service; and
  • Verification is limited, and no verification system is foolproof.

Verification confirms military status only and is not a guarantee of identity, safety, or anyone's exact rank, unit, or service history. By using the .mil option, you represent that the address is your own and that you are authorized to use it. You are responsible for complying with your service branch’s applicable email and acceptable-use policies.

We may request additional proof of military eligibility at any time. We may suspend or terminate accounts that cannot be verified or that do not meet our eligibility requirements.

Location information

BattleBuddies uses an OPSEC-safe manual location design.

All automatic location gathering is disabled. BattleBuddies does not collect or use GPS, device-location permissions, geofencing, or location derived from IP addresses.

The only location information we receive is the city, state and/or ZIP code that you manually enter into the Service, which is optional (you may leave this field blank, and leaving it blank limits location-based matching).

We convert the location you enter into approximate coordinates solely to calculate distance for matching and search. We do not track location in the background, we do not infer or derive location from IP addresses, and we do not share location for advertising.

We also expressly confirm that no other component in our stack (including analytics, advertising, fraud detection, or infrastructure providers) infers location from IP addresses on our behalf.

Messages

We collect the content of messages and other communications you send through the Service. See Section 9, “Messages and Safety Review.”

Payment information

Payments and subscriptions are processed by third-party payment providers. We do not store full payment-card numbers.

We may receive limited payment-related information, such as:

  • Payment status;
  • Subscription type;
  • Transaction dates;
  • Payment amount;
  • The last four digits of a payment card, where provided by a payment processor; and
  • Records needed for refunds, disputes, tax, accounting, and customer support.

Technical and usage information

We may collect:

  • Device type;
  • Operating system;
  • App version;
  • IP address;
  • Browser information;
  • Log information;
  • General usage activity;
  • Error and diagnostic information; and
  • Information about how you interact with the Service.

3. How We Use Information

We use information to:

  • Create, maintain, and manage accounts;
  • Verify military eligibility and help prevent fraud;
  • Operate profiles, matching, browsing, and messaging;
  • Provide manual location search and matching features;
  • Process payments and manage subscriptions;
  • Administer the Free, Premium, and Premium+ plans;
  • Administer the founding-member offer for the first 100 eligible members;
  • Provide customer support;
  • Send service-related messages;
  • Send SMS notifications when you have opted in;
  • Review reports and help keep the community safe;
  • Investigate suspected abuse, fraud, or violations of our Terms;
  • Enforce our Terms, policies, and community rules;
  • Maintain, troubleshoot, and improve the Service;
  • Protect the security and integrity of the Service;
  • Comply with legal obligations and lawful requests; and
  • Exercise or defend our legal rights.

We do not use military verification information or manually entered location information for advertising or unrelated profiling.

4. Military Verification

VerifyPass is our primary verification method. An optional secondary method is one-time verification through a .mil email address for members who prefer it; it is never required to join. The .mil address is never stored, no messages are ever sent to it, and the check confirms domain access only—not identity, rank, unit, component, or length of service. Verification confirms military status only and is not a guarantee of identity, safety, or anyone's exact rank, unit, or service history.

Verification is intended to help confirm eligibility for the military-connected community. It does not guarantee:

  • The identity of an account holder;
  • A person’s rank or unit;
  • A person’s decorations or service history;
  • A person’s current duty status;
  • A person’s criminal or financial history;
  • A person’s intentions; or
  • A person’s safety or conduct.

A pending or self-report status, if displayed, is not the same as full verification.

No verification system is foolproof. You should use caution when communicating with anyone online, avoid sending money or sensitive information, and follow the Service’s safety guidance.

5. Location and OPSEC

Our manual location-search system is designed to support operational security and privacy.

All automatic location gathering is disabled. BattleBuddies does not collect or use GPS, device-location permissions, geofencing, or location derived from IP addresses. You choose whether to provide a city, state and/or ZIP code, and this field is optional (you may leave it blank, and leaving it blank limits location-based matching).

The only location information we receive is what you manually enter.

Do not post or send classified, operational, deployment-sensitive, personally identifying, or otherwise highly sensitive information. Be careful with photos and messages that may reveal:

  • Current locations;
  • Base access points;
  • Deployment details;
  • Unit movements;
  • Schedules;
  • Sensitive equipment;
  • Geotags; or
  • Other operational information.

You are responsible for reviewing your own photos and content before uploading or sending them.

6. SMS and Text Messaging

If you separately opt in to receive text messages, BattleBuddies may send SMS notifications such as:

  • New match alerts;
  • New message alerts; and
  • Daily match digests.

Consent to receive SMS messages is obtained at opt-in. Consent to receive SMS messages is not a condition of purchasing a subscription or using the Service.

Message frequency varies. Message and data rates may apply.

You may withdraw SMS consent at any time by replying STOP. Reply HELP for assistance. You may also contact us at privacy@battlebuddiesdating.com.

Carriers are not responsible for delayed or undelivered messages.

We do not send SMS messages to a .mil email address or to a telephone number identified as linked to a .mil verification process. A .mil address is not used as a communications channel. The .mil route is secondary, optional, never required to join, and confirms domain access only—not identity, rank, unit, component, or length of service; the address is never stored. Verification confirms military status only and is not a guarantee of identity, safety, or anyone's exact rank, unit, or service history.

SMS preferences may be managed separately from other Service communications. Withdrawing marketing or optional SMS consent may not stop necessary account, security, or legally required communications.

7. Subscriptions and Payment Information

BattleBuddies offers a Free tier, Premium, and Premium+ plan. Current prices, billing intervals, features, cancellation procedures, and other subscription terms are described in the Terms & Conditions and on the applicable pricing page.

BattleBuddies may also offer a founding-member benefit limited to the first 100 eligible members. The benefit may include a limited period of free Premium access and other stated benefits.

Payment information is handled by third-party payment processors. We do not store full payment-card numbers. We retain payment and subscription records only as reasonably necessary for:

  • Processing transactions;
  • Managing subscriptions;
  • Handling refunds and disputes;
  • Preventing fraud;
  • Complying with tax and accounting requirements;
  • Meeting legal obligations; and
  • Maintaining appropriate business records.

The payment processor may collect and process information under its own privacy policy and terms.

8. How We Share Information

  • Analytics and diagnostics; and
  • Technical maintenance.

These providers are expected to use information only to provide services to us and to protect it appropriately.

We may disclose information when reasonably necessary to:

  • Comply with a subpoena, court order, law, regulation, or other legal process;
  • Respond to a lawful request from a government authority;

Any successor or acquiring entity will be expected to handle information consistent with this Policy or provide legally required notice.

No sale of personal information

We do not sell personal information.

We also do not share verification information or manually entered location information for unrelated advertising or profiling.

9. Messages and Safety Review

Messages are intended to be private between you and their recipients. However, we may access, review, preserve, or disclose messages when reasonably necessary for:

  • Safety or emergency response;
  • Abuse, harassment, or fraud review;
  • Investigation of suspected violations of our Terms or policies;
  • Responding to reports;
  • Compliance with legal obligations or legal process; or
  • Protecting users, the public, or 13 Foxtrot, LLC.

Do not send information through the Service that you expect to remain confidential in every circumstance.

10. Data Retention

We retain information only for as long as reasonably necessary for the purposes described in this Policy, unless a longer period is required or permitted by law.

Account and profile information

Account and profile information is generally retained while your account is active. When you delete your account, we will delete, de-identify, or retain information as reasonably necessary for safety, fraud prevention, legal compliance, dispute resolution, backup management, or other lawful purposes.

Verification information

Verification status may be retained while your account is active and then deleted or anonymized, subject to lawful retention requirements.

For .mil verification:

  • The .mil email address is never stored;
  • Only a dated “verified via .mil” status flag is retained;
  • The status flag is deleted or anonymized with the account, subject to lawful retention requirements; and
  • No communications are ever sent to the .mil address; the route is never required to join and confirms domain access only—not identity, rank, unit, component, or length of service.

Messages

Messages may be retained as needed to provide the Service, investigate reports, address safety or abuse issues, prevent fraud, resolve disputes, and comply with legal obligations.

Location information

Only the city, state, or ZIP code manually entered by you is collected for location search and matching. It is retained as needed for those purposes and then deleted or de-identified when no longer needed, subject to lawful retention requirements.

We do not retain GPS, geofencing, or background device-location data because we do not collect it.

Payment records

Payment records may be retained as required by tax, accounting, fraud-prevention, dispute-resolution, and other applicable laws.

Eligibility

BattleBuddies is for adults 18+ who are U.S. residents (age 18+) and are Active Duty service members, Reservists, National Guard members, or Veterans. Civilians and immediate family members are not eligible.

Verification limits

VerifyPass is the primary verification method for military-status verification. An optional secondary method uses a .mil email address if you prefer. The .mil address is never stored, and no messages are ever sent to it. The check confirms domain access only—not identity, rank, unit, component, or length of service. The .mil route is never required to join.

Verification confirms military status only and is not a guarantee of identity, safety, or anyone's exact rank, unit, or service history. BattleBuddies does not run criminal-history or sex-offender checks; military-status verification is not a background check.

Location and OPSEC

Members should know that location is entered manually only. BattleBuddies does not use GPS, geofencing, background location tracking, or IP-derived location. Do not enter a home address, exact workplace, barracks location, deployment location, or other unnecessarily precise information.
